Save Tangmere Tower Campaign

Posted on Saturday, 10 February 2018 05:44PM by
Save Tangmere Tower is a campaign aimed to preserve and restore perhaps the last remaining symbol of RAF Tangmere in the village.  The tower (watch office) was built in 1944 in time for D-day.  It became a grade II listed building in 2011 and was successfully placed on the heritage at risk register in 2015.

Since then, TAG (Tangmere Action Group) has been leading discussions with Tangmere Aviation Museum, the University of Chichester, Tangmere Local History Group, Community wardens and Sussex Police.

The campaign has received local and national press coverage.  Discussions will now take place regarding attaining heritage lottery funding.  Our dream is to breathe new life in to this historic building and give it a new purpose.  This may be part of the museum offer, learning space or café.
