Villagers live in a variety of households. One person in five lives alone. Four out of ten homes have dependent children – twice that of Chichester.
  
- 67% of homes are occupied by owners.
- 8% are rented from the Council
- 14% are rented from a Housing Association or social landlord.
- 40% of households have two cars. 10% have no car or van.
- There are on average 2.6 people in each household.
- In every hundred homes 39 are detached; 28 are semis; 18 are terraced; 14 are flats.
The Parish Plan – responding to villagers' priorities This important blueprint for the future is being prepared following a highly successful survey which drew a 60% response. From this, we've identified the "Top Ten” requests for action.
1. To seek a new location for the One stop shop which includes off-road parking
2. To lobby for a pedestrian cycle bridge over the A27 to Boxgrove
3. To resist a Park and Ride in Tangmere
4. To argue for a maximum of 300 extra homes
5. To implement traffic calming measures on the most used roads
6. To resist any housing on the green fields around the village
7. To address the view that Policing in Tangmere is inadequate
8. To extend the Neighbourhood Watch scheme
9. To set up a village web site
